Sharrow Cycling Club; Cycling in Sheffield really began in 1872, when the Sheffield Bicycling Club opened its training ground in Sharrow Vale.Here for the price of 6d. novices could have their first taste of the joys of mounting a 52" wheel "ordinary", or a penny farthing.In 1887 four keen cyclists from Sharrow, met at the bottom of Rundle Road and decided to form Sharrow Cycling Club.
