Opened as The Regent in 1927, and in 1929 showed the first talkies in Sheffield. In 1946 it became the Gaumont, and became a twin screen cinema in 1969, and a triple screened cinema in 1979. In 1985 the cinema closed to make way for a shopping development to include a new Odeon cinema.
