The City Museum at Weston Park was first opened to the public on 6th September 1875.The museum was situated at that time in Weston House, the former home of Eliza and Anne Harrison.Theses were the daughters of Thomas Harrison, a saw manufacturer in Hollis Croft.After the sisters died the house and the estate of twelve acres were acquired, 1873, by the Sheffield corporation, the estate becoming Weston Park. In addition to using the rooms of Weston House, two galleries were constructed to house various exhibits.
