Notes:

These photographs were collected by Sheffield Arts Department during the course of research for the 50th anniversary exhibition of the Graves Art Gallery in 1984 and subsequently deposited in the City Libraries. Information from Patrick Maddock. It looks almost certainly like what is now the entrance to Rose Cottage Cafe at his bequeathed land, the very high, the very exposed but very beautiful Graves Park.

Further information from S. Hedges: Opening ceremony by the Lord Mayor, of Pavilion & Tea Room, Graves Park on July 29th 1927. Designed by W. G. Davies. Built at a cost of £2,500. Master Cutler David Flather (right), presented Lord Mayor J. G. Graves, with a gold key, a gift from the building contractor Reeves Charlesworth Ltd. - A few years later, the Rose Garden was laid out in front of the building, which then became known as the Rose Garden Cafe. (J. G. Graves had gifted the park to the people of Sheffield in 1925.)
