Remains of private chapel. Past owners; 1547-Arthur Greff, yeoman, living at the Hall. 1557-Manor conveyed by Henry Everingham to Robert Swyft, Esq. 1561-Manor allotted by deed to Swyft's daughter Francis Leake of Sutton but they did not live there. 1581-Greaves. 1590-George 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, followed by Gilbert, 7th Earl till his death in 1616, then descent to Duke of Norfolk. Occupied by Creswick family. John Creswick married 1750 and his son Thomas Creswick R.A., famous landscape painter were both born there. 1812-John Fowler, Surveyor, followed by Annie Fowler, his daughter, till her death in 1914. 1884-Sir John Fowler (builder of the Forth Bridge) bought the freehold. From him it passed to Sir John Edward Fowler, killed in the 1st World War. 1914-Given rent free by Sir John Fowler for Belgian refugees. After the war, estate broken up. Mrs. Campbell, widow of Dr. Campbell and niece of Fred Fowler lived there. 1929-Freehold bought by J.H.Trickett who died 1952. His widow remained.
