Sheffield
1878
1851-1899

The tramway opened in 1873 and this picture of 1876 shows the cars in their original state. It ran from Tinsley Depot to the Golden Ball Hotel at Attercliffe. The Corporation refused to sanction mechanical traction and the steam locomotive ran for only about 2 weeks. Taken from Sheffield City Archives: YEC/5 (Guard Book 3).
