Was wounded on the 18th of February, 1900, in the battle of Paardeberg and died the following day. Davis was with the Ambulance in the rear ranks, but on seeing his superior officer (Major Kirkpatrick) shot down he volunteered to go to his assistance and in the act got his death wound. He leaves a wife and three children. Was 30 years old and had seen 12 years service. Page 143
