The original Manor House burned down in 1761 with a large loss of valuable paintings, statues and other works of art. The house was marked on a map of 1777. In 1819 when the tenant was Thomas Howard the house faced a large pleasure garden and pond 1 half acres in extent, its long winding carriage drive was at the begining of Kimberley Street. Samuel Jackson of Spear and Jackson lived here in the late 1830's and later owned the property. It was sold in 1839 to the Duke of Newcastle. See Sheffield Spectator Vol 10 No. 14 page 17 and 18, May 1966 Ref: Used for many years as a Doctors Surgery.
