Inscription on trophy reads:
The Musick Memorial Trophy. This trophy commemorates the services to aviation of Captain Edwin Musick and six companions in the Samoan Clipper who perished in the South Pacific January 12th, 1932 on the first commercial flight from the United States of America to Auckland, New Zealand. Subscribed to by the citizens of Auckland for annual award within the United States and the British Commonwealth of Nations to promote safety in the air.
