Home and workplace to the Osborne family in the 18th century and used as a Blacksmiths. Part of the building became a pub in the 1820s. The forge gradually fell into disuse.

During the 1800s, bear-baiting was held here annually, but was stopped, after one of the Landlords was worried by the bear.
