David Ward lived at Mount View, Glossop Road. He was of the firm Ward and Payne, Limbrick Works, Hillsborough, makers of trowels and masonry tools. He had also been a J.P., a Master Cutler, and was Mayor in 1878. He died aged 55 on 18th November 1889 at Sheffield Railway Station walkway, as he and his wife were on their way to catch a train.
