Built 1726 and 1826.Once the home of eccentric practitioner, Henry Payne.After a quarrel with the parson of Wadsley, he swore never to enter a church again.So when he died, in 1895, two servants carried the coffin to a grave dug in the grounds of Loxley House, lowered the coffin in, and without any religious ceremony, filled the grave. House later used by the Sheffield Sea Cadets.
