From The Star Newspaper article about the flooding after a rain storm. It sometimes reached the second step on the railway footbridge according to accounts. The article names Beatrice Johnson running the corner shop other residents including Doreen Etchers, daughter Lesley and Mrs. Lily Goudge. A compulsory purchase order for the 40 houses on Dolphin Street had been made but residants could not be rehoused for 5 years. See The Star 21st September 1960
