Notes:

The Sisters of Mercy came in 1883 from the Order's Convent in Commercial Road, London to teach at St. Catherine's School. They first lived on Andover Street, then by 1898, moved to Underwood House, Burngreave Road. The 1902 Trade Directory reads, 152, St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Convent, Middle Class High School and School of Music, Mrs Anna MacDonald, lady superior. The establishment closed in 1979 and eventually became a nursing home. Dorothy Hearn attended the Convent High School, leaving in 1919, aged 16. She went on to Whiteley's Commercial College. Postcard reads, to Dorothie, with love from Maisie.
