Sheffield's new Town Hall, opened in 1897 at a cost of 018, had yet to be built when this picture was taken about 1892. A start had been made to clear the site. The 1887 Monolith remained until 1904 when Queen Victoria's monument replaced it. St. Paul's Church (1720), went in 1938.
