Original caption: Repairs and Maintenance Service (RMS) has received national recognition for its work preparing to deliver Awaab’s Law, after winning the Master’s Award at the Worshipful Company of Constructors Livery and Awards event in London on 12 February. The award recognises the significant work RMS has delivered over the past 18 months, transforming the service to ensure safer, healthier homes for residents. This includes strengthening processes, investing in training, improving planning and customer engagement, and embedding a culture of accountability across the service. A key part of this transformation has been developing in-house expertise, with building pathologists now carrying out detailed, independent investigations to address the root causes of damp and mould, rather than just treating symptoms. This approach is helping deliver better outcomes for residents and better value for the service. Image from a Sheffield City Council staff newsletter, 5 Mar 2026.
