Earliest recording 1632. Mousehole Forge is included in the national list of ironworks in 1717, producing 60 tons a year of wrought iron, converted from blast furnace pig-iron. William Armitage became John Cockshutt's manager after 1762, 1791 recorded as the occupier, a partner 1794, later becoming sole tennant. On the death of George Armitage in 1875, Mousehole was sold to William Cooper, who with Brookes, made anvils until 1927. Succeded by Owen, Thomas and Co., who made anvils until 1933.
