Image shows the Lord Mayor (Peter Horton) meeting Mr Chisanga, the Chief Health Inspector of Kitwe, August 1987.

Kitwe is Sheffield’s sister city in Zambia. Of all the babies born there, over 20 per cent do not reach their first birthday.  Kitwe District Council has asked for our support.

They say 'Zambia is one of the frontline states whose proximity to South Africa renders her vulnerable to acts of destabilisation … and an unstable economy cannot support our efforts to provide health services'.

A new health clinic will save lives.  Show that Sheffield’s link with Kitwe really means something.
