Hard Soldering

The hard soldering together of the various parts has problems of its own. The solder used contains a percentage of silver and is known as 'silver solder'. As one part, already soldered, has to be added to another, a very gradual gradation of melting temperatures has to be worked out so that two parts, already soldered together, will not come apart by the heat of adding a third. Hard soldering requires the heat of a gas fed torch and high pressure air. Resting on a coke bed, the whole job becomes red hot before the solder runs.
