Spinning This is a process of forming shapes by revolving sheet metal at a high speed on a lathe. A model made from either steel or hard wood (known as a chuck) is fixed to the face plate and is used as a former. The operator applies pressure to the outer face of the material to be spun, by the aid of highly polished tools and by spinning the metal down to the chuck obtains the shape required. |
