Hand engraving is difficult and requires a high degree of both slkill and art. There are 2 distinct types. [Firstly] the engraving of crests, inscriptions and all kinds of lettering, which in the trade is called 'Heraldic'. [Secondly] the engraving of artistic designs which are applied to enhance the beauty of the article, this being referred to as 'Ornamental'. The craftsman shown is engraving facsimile signatures. |
