After launching the Japanese battleship Katori built by Messrs Vickers Sons and Maxim at Barrow on the Tuesday, Prince and Princess Arisugawa were guests of Douglas Vickers at Cantley Hall, Doncaster the next day (Wednesday 5th July 1905) they detrained a few minutes to eleven from a special Midland train (2 first class coaches and a dining car) at a platform erected at the River Don Works (built for the King's visit the following Wednesday) where they were able to see the guns for the Katori being made. To meet them were Mr Albert Vickers and Mr Godfrey Chetwyn (directors), the Lord Mayor, Alderman Jonas, Mr Kobayashi (inspector of the Japanese work at Vickers, Sons and Maxim), Count Hirosawa, Captain Tanaka, Captain Asaoka andMr. Komwio (of Mitsui and Co), Captain Troubridge C.M.G., special equerry for the visit.

Princess Arisugawa was attired in an elegant blue cloth costume with white chiffon ruffle and small blue toque.
