Situated on Penistone Road, where Beulah Road now stands. Kitling Croft Farm was the farm of Benjamin Oates, who was born at Walkley Old Hall. It was remembered by a reader in a newspaper article dated 23rd May, 1939:

It was demolished about forty years ago. I remember Old Benny, as we used to call him, also his son Charles, who occupied the farm for some years after his father died. It was only a small farm with some fields near the house and one or two others at the bottom of Wadsley Lane and along Middlewood Road. The Oates confined themselves to dairy farming. Their was also Owlerton Farm close by, which was much larger.

Benjamin Oates (4763 Flood Claim), was the father of Benjamin Oates, who was the father of William Albert Oates, born 1835. William had two sons, William (on photo) and Frederick. Frederick had one son named Harry, who was the father of Dennis.
