Properties were later built between Exhib. No. 34 and No. 33, further properties were built on the opposite corner of Foxglove Road. This was not a prize winning design Architect: W. Alex Harvey, Arthur Mckewan A.R.I.B.A, 5 Bennett's Hill, 95 Colmore Row, Birmingham Builder: E. Hancock, The Nook , Barber Road, Sheffield Block of 3 Cottages This block is planned at the angle of Primrose Avenue and Sycamore Road (road finally named Jessamine Road) and cottages are entered for competition in classes B and C. The centre cottage in Class B the two end cottages Class C. The aspect of the various rooms have been carefully considered and the whole of the rooms would have sunshine during some part of the day. The coals W.C's etc. have been kept under the main roof as far as possible, so as to avoid any unsightly projections at the back, a plan which also gives additional bedroom space on the floor over. Local materials have been used throughout on the score of economy. The external walls are 11 thick of brick, built with a 2 cavity throughout. It has been found from experience on the adjoining Corporation Estate that 9 walls are quite insufficient to keep out the driving rain in such an exposed situation. The facing bricks are the best that could be obtained locally and the roofs are covered with local tiles. The internal woodwork is stained and varnished as being the most desirable finish for this class of work. A folding bath is provided in each scullery and an Ideal boiler (self contained) for hot water is also provided. Information from the Official Illustrated Catologue August to October 1907
