Partington was injured at the Battle of Balaclava and nursed by Florence Nightingale. He also saw action at Inkerman and Sebastopol. His funeral procession was an elaborate affair, with marching soldiers and with his coffin draped in the Union flag. His headstone included, until recently vandalised, his helmet, carved in stone, and a metal inscription |
