After launching the Japanese battleship Katori built by Messrs.Vickers Sons and Maxim at Barrow on the Tuesday, Prince and Princess Arisugawa were guests of Mr. Douglas Vickers at Cantley Hall, Doncaster the next day (Wednesday 5th July 1905) they detrained a few minutes to eleven from a special Midland train (2 first class coaches and a dining car) at a platform erected at the River Don Works (built for the Kings visit the following Wednesday) where they were able to see the guns for the Katori being made. To meet them were Mr. Albert Vickers and Mr. Godfrey Chetwyn (directors), the Lord Mayor, Ald Jonas, Mr. Kobayashi (inspector of the Japanese work at Vickers, Sons and Maxim), Count Hirosawa, Captain Tanaka, Captain Asaoka and Mr. Komwio (of Mitsui and Co), Captain Troubridge C.M.G., special equerry for the visit. Princess Arisugawa was attired in an elegant blue cloth costume with white chiffon ruffle and small blue toque. For more details of the visit see: Independent Thursday 6th July 1905
