On 14th March, 2 Shortbrook Close, Mosborough welcomed a VIP. The Secretary of State for the Environment, the Rt. Hon. Anthony Crosland, officially opened the house to commemorate the 50,000th council house to be built since the war, in Sheffield.

It is a fine record of which all can be justly proud, and the presence of the Environment Secretary paid testimony to the Governments respect for Sheffield's achievements, and its interest in our future plans for Mosborough and Normanton Hill.

The 50,000th Corporation house to be completed since the war is amongst the early groups of houses to be built at Mosborough for an additional population of 40,000 people. It is proposed a further 7,000 Corporation and 5,000 Private houses will be constructed within the next 15 years.
