The gold medal was 1 of 2 awarded annually by the Department of the Envronment. The schemes for which it was awarded were the flats at Dover Street, Netherthorpe and sheltered housing at Leader Road, Hillsborough. The scheme was designed by the Department of Planning and Design, Sheffield City Council and Brooks Thorpe and Partners, architects.
